Skill Points
For a bit of simplistic fun, Echoes has come up with our own skill leveling system to develop your character throughout the use of character post counts and buying skill points. It is mostly basic simple addition as far as any 'math' goes and is relatively easy to keep track of but will need to be done per character.
Skill Points:
Every new character starts with 250 skill points to spend through the various skills listed in their profile. How you divvy these skills up is totally up to you but the total throughout all skills cannot total up to an amount more than 250 to begin. However, no bar should be left at 0 unless its magic/spirituality for humans. Otherwise, each bar should strive to have a least a minimum of 5 points in it.
The points of the stat bars are not to max out each and every bar (as you'll read below this is not even allowed) but to mold and make a representation of what your character is good at versus what they are not good at in a realistic manner.
A character may only reach max capacity of TWO bars before they are capped and no longer will be allowed to reach max capacity of any other bars. ALL characters should maintain some 'weaker' level bars because no one is good at everything. So no more than 2 stat bares may reach a 200 point max capacity and all others must be various amounts UNDER 150. Ie they can not all be 150 or 145 they must be below that 150 mark at various ranges.
The one exception to this rule is the magic bar. We do not allow a new character (upon creation) to put more than 100 points into the magic bar. There is a max cap on points you can put into the magic bar upon creation of 100. You may buy points specifically for the magic bar down the road (after your new character has reached 20 posts) and add to the magic bar as you earn credits etc but to start, for a new character, you may not put more than 100 points into the magic bar to start. Even if you buy additional points upon creation, those points may not be used to surpass the 100 point new character magic bar cap.
These are the following skills we're using throughout the site:
- Fighting (How much of a trained warrior you are)
- Strength (Athletics, Lifting, Moving heavy objects)
- Agility (Acrobatics, slight of hand, stealth, Balance, Flexibility ect)
- Intelligence (Education, Book smarts, Social Etiquette, Observation skills)
- Magic (How well trained and how powerful they are in magic use)
- Charisma (Intuition, Cleverness, Deception, Persuasion, Intimidation, Performing, Seduction)
- Spirituality (Religion, Soulful, Faithfulness etc in whatever they believe in personally)
- Naturalist (Animal handling, plant knowledge, Hunting/Tracking, Wayfinding, Survival Skills etc)
Post Counts:
You can earn more skill points by earning points through posting on your characters account and then purchase skill points from the store. You should use points you earn on your characters account for that character, not shuffle them around between character accounts. You will buy the skill point 'item' from our forum store, so the points will be subtracted from your characters bank total and the item will remain in your characters inventory like receipt for your purchase.
Bonus Ways to Earn
Below is a list of additional ways you can earn skill points when creating a new character:
- Making Wanted Court Characters (+30 skill bar points)
