Echoes is a Fae/fantasy Roleplay forum that opened in early February 2024. We are an AU community loosely based on the book series 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' by Sarah J Maas. Our story takes place generally around the time of the first book, before any kind of war with Hybern. However we do not strictly follow the plot or timeline of any of the books directly but only use them as loose inspiration to generate our play. It generally follows a fantasy tone when it comes to buildings and clothing with modern-ish touches like indoor plumbing, heating and lighting that runs on magic.

Our major site wide plot now vibes with just after the first book where the evil Queen has been slain and Prythian is free of her cruelty. We take our own AU Adventure here by bringing back the eighth court - the Dusk court but they're not what you expect!

Travel across Prythian

  • It is theorized that Prythian is loosely based upon the map of the UK. So to figure out some measures of travel we have decided to run with this theory and say that from its most Northern tip to its most southern reach, Prythian is roughly 874 miles long.
  • The average horse can travel between 25 and 35 miles in a day.
  • This means that it would roughly take twenty-five days (minimum) on horse back to travel from the North end to the South end.
  • From East to west the UK is, at its widest, 300 miles. This means going from east to west it would take 7 days on horseback.
  • Using a horse drawn cart or wagon would prove slower than traveling light on horseback itself.
  • A medieval ship could travel between 50- 100 miles a day approximately. Which means sailing from the Northern end of Prythian down to the Southern Mortal realm would take anywhere from eight to sixteen days depending on weather/wind conditions
  • The distance between Wales (middle Prythian) and Ireland (Our Hybern) is 108.4 miles. So sailing from 'The Middle' directly west to Hybern, is likely a two day venture with moderate to good weather.
  • To get 'Under the Mountain' from different courts, there is a cave in every court that leads into a magical tunnel. Through the cave and into the tunnel magic acts as a kind of portal that allows Fae to travel great distances in a short time and connects the Courts to 'Under the Mountain'. Each cave entrance tends to be guarded by sentinels of the ruling Courts armies.
